Note

  • While the Scottish Dances are taken from the Scottish Country Dance repertoire, MoonDance is not able to provide a full night of this kind of material. A Scottish Dance Band requires a very specialised repertoire and usually doesn’t have a caller as the audience is expected to know the dances already. However MoonDance can provide an event with a Scottish - or indeed Irish, American, Australian or Continental - ‘feel’ which follows the more traditional ‘Barn Dance’ format - i.e. with a caller leading the audience through the dances.<

  • Moon Dance (Van Morrison)
  • Carrillon (Sky)
  • Work Out Fine (Ry Cooder)
  • Sweet Georgia Brown
  • Breton Tunes (Nightwatch)
  • La Chapka (Le Gop)
  • Kerry Set Polkas (Trad. Irish)
  • The Dark Island (Scottish)
  • The Barfly (Nightwatch)
Along with various traditional polkas, reels, gigs, hopsteps and waltzes from England, Eire, Scotland and the Continent.

We can also often learn your special song for the first dance given enough warning. Songs we have performed in the past include;

  • Fields of Gold (Sting)
  • Heartbeat (TV Series theme)
  • Have I Told You Lately That I Love You (Van Morrison)
  • Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
  • Someone Like You (Van Morrison)
  • Somebody Like You (Keith Urban)
  • Everything (Michael Buble)
  • Sweet Home Alabama (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
We can also perform a covers set with one of the band members singing. Since we are not a specifically a 'covers' band, we have a more limited repertoire but we can perform a 1 hour set of rock and pop material ranging from the 60's through to the 90's. You can see a sample set list here. There would be an extra charge for this if it's added onto the end of our normal ceilidh set, but it's a lot cheaper than hiring another band.

Disco

If you want us to play recorded music after the end of the ceilidh then for a small extra charge we can play of your choice through our PA system. We can either connect your iPod to the mixer or use our CD/MP3 player. While we are not DJs, we can play an agreed playlist for you.
